VPAA Delivers Workshop on Essentials of Accreditation

Vice President of Academic Affairs (VPAA) Dr. Wolfgang Hinck at American University of Iraq, Sulaimani (AUIS) delivered a workshop titled ‘Essentials of Accreditation’ to University faculty and staff on Wednesday, February 5, 2020.

Dr. Hinck outlined the purpose and importance of accreditation for higher education institutions, with specific focus on AUIS, and discussed internal and external quality control; continuous improvement; achievement of a mission; and common indicators for achieving accreditation. 

“OUR MISSION IS TEACHING ORIENTED…WE MUST HAVE EVIDENCE OF LEARNING,” DR. HINCK SAID.

He went on to explain the different levels of accreditation, including institutional versus programmatic; and regional, national, and international accreditation. He also introduced various global accrediting bodies at the international and programmatic level. 

Dr.  Hinck further emphasized the importance of  developing and fostering a collegial and passionate environment within the institution in order to work cohesively towards achieving stated goals towards achieving accreditation.
