This summer, the AUIS Academic Preparatory Program (APP) launched its Summer Honor's Engagement Program (SHEP) during the month of July. High school students in grades 10, 11 and 12 from across Sulaimaniyah are participating in an intensive 10 day long program to develop their leadership and English language skills. This much sought after program received over 300 applicants, but only the top 100 students were selected. This program gives learners the opportunity to interact with others from diverse educational backgrounds and to form a community of young learners. Participants engage with well experienced APP instructors, such as Michael Jones and Holly Formolo, who this July facilitated sessions on topics such as global citizenship, team building, and leadership skills development. APP is looking forward to launching the final SHEP program on August 20th and will showcase AUIS's diverse academic offerings. The SHEP program is made possible by the U.S State Department and led by APP Director Zimkitha Mpatheni.
